Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, 1–2 October 2025 — The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), through its Global Firearms Programme (GFP), jointly with the Forensic Center of the Federal Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FUP), delivered practical training on the use of portable detectors for explosives and drugs to officers of the Indirect Taxation Authority (Customs).

The practical component of the training, led by FUP forensic specialists, covered safe sampling, documentation and procedures to support investigations and prosecutions linked to illicit firearms trafficking.

Project Hermes supports the implementation of the Roadmap for a Sustainable Solution to the Illegal Possession, Misuse and Trafficking of Small Arms and Light Weapons and their Ammunition in the Western Balkans.

By strengthening legislative and operational frameworks, enhancing detection capabilities, and promoting public-private partnerships, Project Hermes contributes to regional and international security.

This activity was conducted with support from Germany, Sweden, the Netherlands, France, the United Kingdom and Norway, and with the support of the European Union.
