ARKAH, Turkey — The Syriac Women’s Center (Süryani Kadın Derneği Üyesi, SÜRKADİM) in Turkey recently hosted a festive celebration to mark religious and national holidays, bringing joy to children and community members in the historic region of Tur Abdin, including Medyad (Midyat) and nearby villages.
SÜRKADİM, dedicated to supporting the local Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) community, organizes a variety of projects and initiatives throughout the year. On 6 December 2025, the center held a special event in Arkah, featuring Mor Zokhe (Santa Claus) to delight the village’s young residents.
Around 100 children gathered in the village hall, where they received Christmas presents from Mor Zokhe, sang along to festive carols, and enjoyed a lively holiday atmosphere.
The center thanked all those who helped make the celebration possible and highlighted the collective effort to nurture hope and a brighter future for the Syriac community in Tur Abdin.
