In the wake of a significant diplomatic loss, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has communicated his condolences to Russian President Vladimir Putin. The expressions of sympathy followed the passing of Aleksandr Ivanovich Matsegora, Russia’s extraordinary ambassador to North Korea.

The North’s state-controlled Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) confirmed the transmission of heartfelt messages to the Russian embassy stationed in the country, acknowledging the ambassador’s contributions to fostering bilateral relations.

Although the precise circumstances surrounding Matsegora’s death remain unclear, South Korea’s Yonhap News Agency reported Monday’s announcement from Russia’s foreign ministry which did not elaborate on the cause.
