The newly expanded codeshare agreement between Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) and WestJet is set to significantly enhance travel options between Canada, Scandinavia, and the US. This reciprocal partnership, effective December 10, 2025, provides passengers with a range of benefits, including simplified travel across these regions, one-ticket itineraries, and easier connections. With this partnership, both airlines are striving to improve access to key Scandinavian hubs, creating a more seamless travel experience for passengers traveling between Canada, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and the US.
What is the New SAS and WestJet Codeshare Agreement?
The new SAS and WestJet agreement is a major upgrade to their existing interline partnership, now becoming a reciprocal codeshare. This means that both airlines can sell flights on each other’s networks under their own flight codes, simplifying the booking process for passengers. The key advantage of this codeshare agreement is the ability for travelers to book their entire journey under one itinerary, making it easier and more convenient to travel between the countries involved.
The new codeshare arrangement also offers several other important benefits for travelers, such as:
- Single Ticket Booking: Passengers can now book a full journey involving both SAS and WestJet flights on a single ticket.
- Seamless Connection: With only one check-in required for the entire trip, travelers experience a smoother transfer between connecting flights.
- Through-Checked Baggage: Baggage is checked all the way through to the final destination, eliminating the need to re-check luggage at any connecting airports (subject to customs and immigration rules).
- Loyalty Earnings: WestJet Rewards members can earn points on SAS flights marketed by WestJet, providing added benefits for frequent flyers. Additionally, a future loyalty program is being planned for both SAS EuroBonus and WestJet Rewards members.

- For WestJet Passengers: WestJet customers can now access three major Scandinavian hubs – Copenhagen, Denmark (CPH), Oslo, Norway (OSL), and Stockholm, Sweden (ARN) – with just one stop via SAS flights. Initial connections are available via WestJet’s non-stop flights from Calgary (YYC) to Paris and London Heathrow, and the codeshare will also include WestJet’s direct link to SAS’s year-round service between Toronto (YYZ) and Copenhagen (CPH). In the future, starting in 2026, WestJet passengers will gain access to the Nordic hubs from additional European cities, including Edinburgh, Dublin, Barcelona, Rome, and Keflavik (Iceland).
- For SAS Passengers: SAS customers can benefit from WestJet’s extensive Canadian network, which includes more than 10 destinations beyond Toronto, such as Vancouver, Calgary, Winnipeg, Edmonton, and Halifax. These routes are accessible via SAS’s direct Copenhagen-Toronto service and through WestJet’s connections in the United States, such as Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle, Washington D.C., New York JFK, and Boston.
What Routes are Covered in the Initial Phase of the Codeshare?
The initial phase of the codeshare agreement opens up year-round one-stop access to key Scandinavian hubs for WestJet passengers, including Copenhagen (CPH), Oslo (OSL), and Stockholm (ARN), with connections from Calgary (YYC), Toronto (YYZ), and beyond. WestJet’s code is also placed on SAS’s direct service between Toronto and Copenhagen, making it easier for Canadian travelers to visit Scandinavia.
SAS customers, on the other hand, will be able to seamlessly connect to more than 10 destinations across Canada, starting with Toronto and extending to other major cities, such as Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, and Halifax.
What’s Next for the Codeshare Partnership?
Looking ahead to 2026, the SAS and WestJet codeshare agreement will expand further with the addition of new routes. One of the most significant upcoming developments is the seasonal, non-stop service between Halifax (YHZ) and Copenhagen (CPH), launching in May 2026. This four-time-weekly service will significantly enhance the travel options between Atlantic Canada and Scandinavia.
Additionally, WestJet passengers will have greater access to the Nordic hubs via more of WestJet’s transatlantic routes, including one-stop connections from Edinburgh, Dublin, Barcelona, Rome, and Keflavik. The future integration of loyalty programs for both SAS EuroBonus and WestJet Rewards members will provide further incentives for frequent travelers.
