Hi everyone,
Im planning to switch my career path from Detailhandel to IT . Ive done Detailhandelsfachmann EFZ and did the ICT Fundamentals this year. Im doing the HF next year and it would be nice if my job was related to IT while I go to school.
My question is, what path that makes the most sense for someone in my position? Ive thought about applying for an IT Support Junior jobs or anything related to that.
Just a bit worried because I have zero work experience in this area and Ive heard that its tough for Quereinstieger in IT right now.
Any information would be nice.
Thanks for reading 🙂

I think it is really difficult – I’d try and get as many certs as you can done around Windows / Microsoft. And then have a look with a Government entity like your local council or canton. They usually look for extra set of hands for migrations and deployments and all kinds. Maybe call and ask. Never hurts to ask.
Lean towards practical skills in security, networking and diagnostics, getting as many certs as you can, and you’ll be fine
To be honest, you can try but it will be hard because in the past easy, unnecessary tasks were delegated to intern. But specifically these tasks now AI can handle in no time.
If you enter Software engineering, I recommend you already start to focus now on an AI path.
Our company just announced today that we will change the way we’re working. Shifting from coding to directing.
Look into Claude AI.
Good luck.
Edit: i don’t know how I overlooked the support stuff in your question. I guess support, Security etc has more demand right now then just software engineering. Especially Cloud. Look into Azure certificates (devops).
IMHO look at learning AI fundamentals. As you probably know jobs are being replaced by AI so if you want a job in IT you would be better placed if you knew how to engineer AI/machine learning [(a few examples in this article)](https://www.coursera.org/articles/artificial-intelligence-jobs). If you do that also learn python as a lot of AI related stuff is coded in Python.
alot of seniors are doing junior work, the market is cooked right now but good luck to you!
