Hello everyone! Got a taxi at 4 AM, seven minute journey. 18 euro. Can someone confirm for me that the base fare should be 8:40? That’s the starting cost on the meter? One person, by the way.
edit: 5.2 km
edit: I’m not saying I’ve been ripped off. I’m genuinely asking does the fare make sense. I’m happy to see that it does make sense, based on the responses.

should be around 12-15 but still better than paying 80 quid.
Where did you go from and to? Like just give an approximate idea
Standard base fair rate that early €5.40 + booking fee €3? We need Uber
Base fare for that time is 5.40 and if you prebooked its an extra 3euro

4 am? Ya could have cycled safely and quickly at that hour!
Taxis just aren’t for the normal person anymore it seems.
Uber should be the same as other countries now where anyone can use it so people can get to places for a reasonable price.
Taxi drivers are going on as if they’re doing some kind of skilled job and should be making big money.
Bottom line is that anyone with a licence can drive a car. What are they doing that’s harder than a person in factory earning minimum wage?
How far did you go? Can probably go a lot further in 7 mins at 4am than at anytime later
One word- Uber!!!
Would you not expect to get paid more for working at night time in your job? Walk in the rain next time nobody cares how much you paid
Wtf is a technology fee??
Uber is the only show in town, it would put a stop to this nonsense of ripping people off.
Post up the official taxi receipt from the driver .Thats not from a taxi receipt machine
If the €18 is too much there’s the option to walk the 5k or whatever?
The real question is how much you would expect to be paid if you are driving people at 4am.

Correct me if I’m wrong but 4am is unsociable and he’d need to be on €30 an hour before paying for car related expenses and he might only get 2 fares at that time so i think that fare might be what it’s worth? Please tell me I’m wrong I don’t know the business at that hour
Country’s bucked hi.
Use the tfi fare estimator, if its over the expected paremeters then the complaint form is on the tfi website too
I am 6km from my local town and it’s about the same at night so fair enough I think, also daytime for me is €13 which I think is good value as from the taxi leaving town, collection to drop off its probably half an hour so not exactly a high hourly rate. Just for perspective!
I had this recently, got a taxi up the road cost 19 euro. I actually thought I got scammed, then looked at the estimated cost, breakdown of fees etc. It was correct.
Taxis are really only for emergencies now to make the cost worth it. I’m lucky enough to live along a 24 hour bus route. Went out for pints recently, had 4 pints, food after. That was around 55 euro ISH. The only part of the night out that seems anyway decent value was the 2 euro bus home.
What does the 80 cent charge for time mean?
Taxi driver tried to charge €85 for a 9 minute journey in Budapest earlier this year.
He was not happy when we told him we understood the currency conversion and wouldn’t be paying more than €15
My dad regularly gets a taxi from a rank on the weekends from his local pub, journey is about 10-12 minutes and it only costs him €10.
Sounds like a mad price, better renting an e-scooter for a fraction of that price
Order a Chinese takeaway. Go to the takeaway and ask the guy collecting your order for a lift and you’ll slip him an extra €5. win/win
It’s distance.
Time for Uber
If only taxi men paid tax
