The sixth meeting of the Belarusian-Serbian working group on co-operation in agriculture and food has been held in the format of a videoconference at Belarus’ Agriculture and Food Ministry, sb.by reports with reference to the latter’s press service

The meeting was co-chaired by Ksenia Meleshko, the Head of the Directorate for Foreign Economic Activity at the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry, and Nebojsa Milosavljevic, the Director of the Plant Protection Administration at the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management of Serbia. The participants discussed the development of bilateral trade, veterinary, sanitary and phytosanitary co-operation, as well as interaction in crop and seed production.

The Belarusian side noted the intensification of bilateral contacts this year and the high level of mutual trust. In January-October 2025, trade turnover in the food and agricultural raw materials segment increased by 29.8 percent compared to the same period last year. Exports of Belarusian products to Serbia increased by 37.6 percent and include dairy products, cheeses, skimmed milk powder, fruits, vegetables, fat and oil products. Imports from Serbia are also expanding, primarily due to feed, seed corn and planting materials. Over the past five years, Belarus’ Department of Veterinary and Food Supervision has accredited 38 dairy and 7 poultry processing enterprises for exports to Serbia. Belarus expressed its readiness to increase the supply of dairy products, expand the range of chicken eggs, canned meat and finished meat products, as well as increase the number of accredited enterprises and exchange best practices.

The parties stressed that the current co-operation is already bringing tangible benefits to consumers of both countries, but its potential is much wider – so further intensification of the partnership will open up new opportunities for joint projects and expansion of mutual supplies.

The departments co-operate within the framework of an indefinite memorandum of understanding signed by Belarus’ Agriculture and Food Ministry and the relevant ministry of Serbia.
