Chicago, USA – “Help from USA To Bosnia Herzegovina (BIH)” promises to improve the standard of living for women affected by war and domestic violence across the country.
The founder of “Help from USA to BIH,” Alma Mujanovic, made this declaration during a fundraising dinner in Schaumburg, Chicago. She also stated: “As a cancer survivor, having endured domestic violence, and having lived through the war in Bosnia, I have dedicated my life to lifting up those who are struggling, whether they are destitute, ill, or vulnerable.” She added that through “Help from USA To BIH,” they have reached thousands of people in need, offering meals and shelter to the homeless, building homes for at-risk families, steering youth away from street life, and helping them take their first steps toward a brighter future.
Speaking about next year’s flagship program, “YOU ARE NOT ALONE,” she said the association plans to launch safe houses and shelters in Bosnia for survivors of domestic violence and sex trafficking. She also appealed to donors and philanthropists worldwide to support this noble cause to bring smiles back to the faces of domestic violence victims. Sharing details of the 2026 flagship program, Alma Mujanovic explained that this project will provide up to six months of temporary housing, in addition to workshops focused on mental health and therapy. She reiterated that their goal is to empower women and children through martial arts training, life coaching, educational opportunities, and motivational support, ensuring that everyone who eventually leaves the organization has the essentials and the tools for financial independence.
It is important to mention that “Help from USA TO BIH” has also planned additional projects for 2026, including:
* Refugee outreach programs
* Assistance for the elderly
* Homeless outreach and meal service
* Youth empowerment initiatives
The “Our senior and homeless outreach” project includes a mobile food pantry, offering regular distributions of food boxes, hygiene kits, toiletries, and weekly emergency groceries and meat supplies. “Help from USA To BIH” serves hot meals to more than 100 people every day in these critical weather conditions.
Speaking exclusively to the “Focus on Africa Correspondent,” Alma Mujanovic said: “We distribute 2,000–3,000 meals a month, but sometimes, when they lack resources, people in need approach us with hopeless faces.”
Sharing some touching stories about innocent local girls, she appealed to philanthropists to step forward and play their part for the sake of humanity, which is crucial for their survival. Alma, a cancer survivor, said she has dedicated her life to helping those in need: those who are struggling, misunderstood, and feeling alone.
Speaking at the event, Edina Povlakic, Marketing Coordinator for “Help from USA To BIH” and a fervent supporter of women’s rights and protector of orphans, said their mission is to safeguard women and children while also opening new opportunities for young people living on the streets.
She emphasized that every donation makes a real difference, changing someone’s life and making you a beacon of hope for others. Edina also noted that there is a significant need for support right here in the United States and that the organization “Help from USA to BIH,” operating from the US to Bosnia and Herzegovina, is not just changing the future of these individuals but is also making history in the ongoing struggle for a better life and vital support for those most in need.
The fundraising dinner was attended by people from all walks of life, including war-affected women from Afghanistan.
