GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – The Palmetto Sports team followed Furman men’s soccer to Cary, North Carolina, as the Paladins appeared in their first College Cup in program history.
Furman’s Friday began with a celebratory send off at the team hotel, with fans and family members cheering on the Paladins as they headed off to face Washington in the national semifinal.

Jason Donnelly, Furman director of athletics, expressed his gratitude for the support of fans, students and alumni during the season in a live interview with Palmetto Sports’ Ella Grogan.
He also called the ending to head coach Doug Allison’s 31st and final year at the helm for Furman a “storybook” situation.

Furman won every game of its NCAA tournament by one goal, taking down Western Michigan, Hofstra and No. 8 Portland in its path to the semifinal match.

Furman would eventually fall 3-1 to Washington, ending their historic season and Allison’s storied career.
