To raise money. It’s why any company goes public.

It finally has competition. Seems like every other month a new rocket is doing what SpaceX does. It’s only a matter of time till they haven’t got a monopoly.
Might as well cash out before the water gets rough.

This article is absurd, and it treats an absurd narrative as fact.

All that matters is the Mars colony.
It seems like 30-40 billion IPO of a trillion dollar company is giving up 3-4% of voting rights.
I worry that while that’s not enough to outvote musk on Mars plans, it gives an opportunity to sue and say Mars isn’t in the interest of shareholders. While they knew that going in, all it takes is one activist judge to throw a monkey wrench. And we must think of that window of threat now being open for the rest of the project; likely generations from now.
This is very concerning. I don’t think the risk is worth the AI gains. Then again, in cases of vision and engineering, anytime I’ve disagreed with Musk, I’ve been shown to be wrong. Optimus is needed for the colony. We see seconds of video from Optimus a year. He knows where the shortfall on compute for it currently stands.

Spacex needs to be public so the elected politicians can place their bets in the stock market just before they announce awarding government contacts to their pet public company. That’s OK….right ?

Gee, I wonder why they suddenly need money?
Seriously. Why would they suddenly need a large injection of cash after so long without it?
Just unexplainable.

Because Elon needs more stock to be able to take loans against. X is not doing great. X loans are being off loaded by banks.
Tesla is not enough anymore as it is BS meme stock at this point, nobody wants to touch anything Tesla related, well other than day traders and speculators.
Also, banks are cautious about future loans tied to high-profile acquisitions, especially those led by individuals like Elon Musk. The experience with X loans serves as a reminder of the risks involved in financing based on reputation rather than financial viability.
Shortly, Elon needs more stock to use as collateral for more loans and it needs to be something different than Tesla.

Going public is actually bad cuz now they will have to focus on keeping investors happy and focus on things that make revenue, so no mars cuz it’s unprofitable
