PLEASE READ THIS POST. Members of the Seimas cynically waved their hands at tens of thousands of you who came to the Seimas to stand for free speech. The law politicizing LRT is making its way through the Seimas at cosmic speed.
We do not agree to remain silent and allow the foundations of our state and independent media to be quietly destroyed. We do not see any other way but to choose continuous protests at the Seimas. Next week on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday every evening from 18:00. we invite you to come to the Seimas. If you are unable to join on all days, it is very important that you come on December 17th. from 6 p.m. This is the eve of the adoption of the LRT law.
LRT radio will broadcast live from the square all days from the morning, so the action will be constantly happening there. We will light bonfires in the square and hope that they will help dispel the darkness. We invite you all to join us for them. Yes, we know it’s the Christmas period, but those in power are making all this haste precisely by using the Christmas period, using grossly anti-democratic behavior, without discussion, violating many procedures, directly saying: we will appoint our director. Let’s come now to make next Christmas brighter.
I know some think that protests don’t change much, but that’s a dangerous mindset. Those in power are aiming for exactly that, so that we “stand down”, as the wife of one social democrat wrote, and allow them to manage their affairs calmly and efficiently. Now the situation is being closely monitored by the European Commission, which can start procedures against Lithuania, international media, let’s show not even our Seimas members, but the whole world, that we will not remain silent when our democracy is being destroyed. The government expects us to get tired. Bonfires near the Seimas are a sign that WE STAY until we are heard.
