Georgia has appointed new ambassadors to the Republic of Bulgaria and the Arab Republic of Egypt. Zurab Khamashuridze has been designated as Georgia’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Bulgaria, while Nikoloz Abkhazava will serve in the same capacity in the Arab Republic of Egypt.

Since 2024, Zurab Khamashuridze has held the position of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Republic of Estonia. He brings extensive experience from his long-standing career at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Over the years, he has served as Minister Plenipotentiary at the Embassy of Georgia to the Kingdom of Belgium and the Mission of Georgia to the European Union, Director of the European Integration Department at the Directorate-General for the EU, and held various roles within the Department of Security Policy and Euro-Atlantic Integration. Mr. Khamashuridze holds the diplomatic rank of Minister Plenipotentiary.

Nikoloz Abkhazava has been appointed as Georgia’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Arab Republic of Egypt. Throughout his diplomatic career, he has served in a number of positions within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From 2012 to 2017, he served as Georgia’s Ambassador to the Republic of Korea, followed by his tenure as Ambassador to Malaysia from 2017 to 2022.
Mr. Abkhazava also holds the diplomatic rank of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary.
