German soldiers deployed to the NATO-led Regional Command-East of the KFOR mission continue their daily and night patrols in several municipalities within the RC-E area of responsibility.
According to the KFOR announcement, the patrols aim to ensure a visible and credible presence on the ground, improve situational awareness and directly contribute to regional stability.
“They are a fundamental part of KFOR’s ongoing mission to provide a safe and secure environment for all people living in Kosovo,” the statement said.
Today, Jan Stoss, Secretary of the German Ministry of Defense, made a visit to Kosovo where he met with the German soldiers engaged in this mission. He was first received by the Chargé d’Affaires, Christian Böttcher, and then visited the Film City Camp, where he was received by Colonel Müller, the commander of the German contingent.
KFOR continues to implement its mandate, based on UN Security Council Resolution 1244 of 1999, by contributing to the creation of a safe and secure environment for all citizens of Kosovo and by supporting freedom of movement.
The mission operates in close coordination with the Kosovo Police and the European Union Rule of Law Mission (EULEX) in their respective roles as security responders.
