Monzo is a Uk bank , They do that 2025 unwrap like Spotify does on their app and it just lists Cyprus as part of Turkey. I don’t mind calling it Kibris but part of Turkey damn that’s just doesn’t sit right

Factually, geopolitically and appallingly incorrect. I am cutting my card to pieces as soon as possible.
I don’t think it’s Monzo’s fault, but the way transactions in the TRNC are processed.
The addresses in the TRNC have Türkiye in the country field, and the Mersin 10 postcode. It is also how post is delivered to the TRNC via Türkiye given post is not delivered from the Republic of Cyprus.
‘Kibris’ is generally also written in the address to ensure it is clear it’s going to the TRNC (but not needed as Mersin 10 is dedicated to the TRNC), and not written in English, where other countries may accidentally send it to the Republic of Cyprus.
I hope this helps clarifies why transaction may appear in that way!
There is a village called Kıbrıscık in Turkey, that’s probably the closed that is actually correct.
as a tc i lose my mind when any company does this. they always count cyprus as a city of turkey in whatever options they have. it drives me fucking crazy.

You do know that, even though we are a Greek island and part of the eu, our region is considered Middle East.
My guess is they do that because they don’t have any other option to classify Northern Cyprus as they only have access to Turkish banking infrastructure.
