Kosovo has been officially accepted as the 154th member of the International Golf Federation (IGF), marking a historic moment for the development of golf in the country. The decision places Kosovo in the global family of this sport and paves the way for participation in international competitions, as well as possible inclusion in future Olympic cycles.

According to the press release, membership in the IGF is the result of many years of work and continuous commitment to building national golf structures. A special contribution to this process is attributed to Dino Asanaj, the founder of golf in Kosovo, as well as the Albanian diaspora, which has played a key role in financial support, international networking and representation of Kosovo in relevant institutions.

The statement also highlights the institutional support of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, as well as the assistance of international partners and local contributors. Admission to the IGF is seen as the beginning of a new chapter for golf in Kosovo, with the aim of developing infrastructure, affirming young talents and representing the country in the international arena.

Announcement from the Kosovo Golf Federation

With special pride and emotion, we announce that Kosovo has been officially accepted as the 154th member of the International Golf Federation (IGF).

This decision marks one of the most important moments in the history of the sport of golf in our country. After many years of unremitting efforts, our vision, perseverance and collective belief have been crowned with success that places Kosovo on the world golf map and opens the doors to the Olympic dream.

Membership in the IGF is not just a formal status – it is a testament to our long journey.

It is the result of more than a decade of tireless work, hundreds of international meetings, thousands of hours in the field, building from the ground up a national golf structure, and the dedication of every individual who believed that Kosovo could be part of the global family of this noble sport.

A special place in this history belongs to Albanian-American Dino Asanaj, the visionary who founded golf in Kosovo and gave life to this sport at a time when few believed in it. His contribution remains the foundation upon which the entire structure of today was built.

Also, the Albanian diaspora has played an extraordinary role, being a driving force at every step of our journey.

With dedication, financial support, international networking, and dignified representation of Kosovo, the diaspora has contributed profoundly to raising golf to the level we are at today.

Thanks to them, Kosovo has been present at tables and institutions where it has often been difficult to penetrate.

This success is also theirs — of every Albanian who has helped, believed, and contributed from afar.

We also deeply thank the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) for their institutional support and willingness to advance golf to a modern and national standard. Cooperation with MCYS has been essential for this historic step.

Also, this triumph would not have been possible without the support of our international partners, friends of the sport of golf around the world, and local contributors who, with professionalism and passion, raised this project to the right level.

Thank you IGF for the trust.

Thank you to every athlete, coach, administrator, volunteer, business, and supporter of our cause over the years.

Today, Kosovo is not just a country that plays golf.

Today, Kosovo is a country that represents golf in the international arena.

This is the beginning of a new chapter: participation in world competitions, the possibility of inclusion in Olympic cycles, strengthening local infrastructure, developing young talents, and affirming Kosovo as a serious sports destination.

Kosovo – 154th member of the IGF.

A dream come true.

A journey that has just begun
