Slovenia has amended the grant scheme for the period 2025–2029, supporting the construction of new solar and wind power plants. The conditions for installations over 1 megawatt (MW) have been standardised, regardless of the investor’s status. This broadens the pool of potential investors and simplifies the allocation of non-repayable grants. The scheme provides grants for new solar or wind power installations, with or without battery storage.
For the installations, both the nominal capacity and the grid connection capacity must exceed 1 MW, while the battery storage must have a minimum capacity of 0.75 kilowatt-hour (kWh) per 1 kilowatt (kW) of nominal installation capacity.
Eligible applicants include companies and energy communities. Costs that can be accounted for include the purchase and installation of the equipment, including supporting structures, as well as the equipment required to connect to the electrical grid, including a transformer station if required by the connection permit. Construction, implementation and installation works are also eligible fo funding, as well as professional supervision up to 3 per cent of the eligible costs of the operation.
From the European Cohesion Fund, up to 45 per cent of the costs can be requested, with maximum amounts of 180 euros per kW for standard and freestanding solar plants, 250 euros for solar installations covering uncovered parking areas, and 560 euros for wind power plants. For battery storage, up to 30 per cent of the costs can be requested, with a maximum of 225 euros per kWh. The maximum grant per application is 25 million euros.
