Riga Airport said on December 16th it has launched a new digital donation stand, offering passengers a convenient way to support charitable causes while traveling.
The stand allows donations directed to four different areas: assistance for seriously ill children, support for the education of children from low-income families, aid for animal shelters, and help for people in emergency situations.
Developed in cooperation with the charity donation platform Ziedot.lv , the donation stand is located in the passenger area of Riga Airport, after the security checkpoint on the way to boarding gates and the shopping zone.
The stand uses the “TapBox” digital solution, enabling travelers to make donations quickly and securely with a bank card. All contributions are directed through Ziedot.lv to nonprofit organizations, ensuring that support reaches the intended beneficiaries.
Laura Kulakova, Head of Communications at Riga Airport, said: “For many years, Riga Airport has provided opportunities for charitable organizations to collect donations in the terminal. Until now, this was done through traditional donation boxes where travelers could give cash. However, passenger habits are changing, and most people now prefer to use payment cards and mobile devices while traveling.”
Rūta Dimanta, Head of Ziedot.lv, said: “Our mission has always been to serve as a bridge between those in need and those who want to help. It is essential for us to provide accessible and transparent donation opportunities. The introduction of the digital donation stand at Riga Airport expands this accessibility, allowing travelers to support charity in a familiar way – using cashless payment tools.”
