The candidate for prime minister from the Democratic League of Kosovo, Lumir Abdixhiku, has sent a letter to the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, requesting the lifting of EU measures against Kosovo.

In the letter sent, Abdixhiku says that LDK considers that the continuation of these measures is unjustified and does not reflect current political and institutional developments in the country.

“The Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) demands the immediate lifting of the European Union’s punitive measures against the Republic of Kosovo. LDK assesses that the continuation of these measures is unjustified and does not reflect the current political and institutional developments in the country,” the letter states.

Among other things, according to the announcement, it is known that the European Union’s measures are producing direct consequences for the citizens of Kosovo and are damaging state institutions.

“Local power in the Republic of Kosovo in the northern municipalities has already been transferred and the criteria set by the EU have been met. These measures have directly harmed Kosovo and its citizens, not politicians. As a result, a considerable number of development projects and important investments have remained blocked and unrealized, hindering economic development and improving public services.”

According to the announcement, it is announced that the Democratic League of Kosovo calls on the European Union to make a decision to completely lift punitive measures against the Republic of Kosovo, in accordance with the principles of justice, proportionality and partnership.

“The Republic of Kosovo deserves fair treatment and concrete support on its European journey,” the announcement states. /Telegrafi/
