I consider Azadliq Radiosu and Meydan TV important and valuable outlets for Azerbaijan, especially since they are among the last independent media organizations.
This post is not a criticism of those platforms themselves. I came across this exchange because I follow Emrah Safa Gürkan, and this journalist’s post appeared in my feed.
The way the claim is framed, along with a broader pattern of similar posts about Turks and Turkish history, I think it’s odd. In my personal view, the intention behind this framing does not seem academic or neutral, which is why I am sharing Gürkan’s response here for discussion.

This guy clearly hates the concept of Turkness. Unbelievable. Is shit like this tolerated by Azerbaijanis?
Every pan is bad. Every action has an equal and opposite reaction.
Usually the response to extremism is extremism.
The more posts about poorsian and bozkurt propaganda, the more pan Iranist and pan Persian the response will be
Bro literally hates turkish identity, I hope Azerbaijani brothers and sisters doesnt give any attention to him
The fact that the Ottomans were Turks is undeniable.
Wether they are SPECİFİCALLY of the Kayı tribe is questionable.
For one, what did the Kayı tribe do to warrant a higher reverence over other tribes? İf the ottomans TRULY wanted to snatch the glory of another tribe they would’ve chosen something like the Qınıq tribe, which was the Selçuk houses tribe.
However there are historians that claim that Osman the 1st was a direct descendant of Oghuz Khagan, which is laughable because of how unprocessable this thesis is.
Unless we somehow find Oghuz Khagans or his sons tombs with bodies still intact (some Ashina members practiced incineration funerals after all, maybe Oghuz Khagan too) and unless we manage to track down osmans close descendants and sample their dna we wont be able to tell wether he was a direct descendant or not.
THİS is what a glory snatching would look like.

This thing is closest we have to “gijdıllax” in a human form

“Journalist writing for Meydan TV and Azadlıq Radiosu”? A person who wrote eons ago, is now considered a benchmark for you?
There are cringy ethnicists in every country and most (basically all) talysh arent like this ik it sounds cliche but they really dont care talysh boxer one time even said “ne mutli turkum diyene”? they just call themselves azerbaijani
Someone should tell him to get a DNA test and see how much Iranic (Yaz culture) and Indo-European DNA he has, since he likes to say what other people are or aren’t. So he can see who his ancestors really were before speaking an Iranic language. (For those who don’t know, the Talysh are an Iranic-speaking group, yet they probably carry the least amount of Indo-European and Iranic DNA among all Iranic peoples and even among the ethnic groups of Azerbaijan).
Gijdıllax videoya götüylə qulaq asıb?
The funny part is that they claim to be aryans. Persians have little Sintashan genes and even fewer paternal Sintashan ancestry. In contrast, Kazakhs and Kyrgyz have more.
This is a specific part of the speech. To strengthen their own position they made reference to the Kayı tribe a well-established tribe. Halil says this is a lie not that they are not Turkish.
