Romanian President Nicusor Dan on Wednesday visited King Charles III at Buckingham Palace, said a brief statement issued by the royal family on social media.
The statement did not say what was discussed during the meeting between the president and the British monarch.
Nicusor Dan met the king two days after Romania’s broad coalition government survived a no-confidence vote over its economic policies and reform plans.Â
According to Reuters, the coalition has now survived six no-confidence votes since taking power half a year ago, mostly over tax hikes and spending cuts aimed at reducing the EU’s largest budget deficit and preserving Romania’s investment-grade rating.
It’s not known whether the politician situation in Romania came under discussion during the president’s meeting with King Charles.
In May this year, Nicusor Dan defied the odds to win the presidency.
