The state-owned company Latvijas Pasts has resumed sending private parcels to the US, the company announced.
Latvijas Pasts has resumed accepting parcels and small parcels registered on the self-service website mans.pasts.lv for delivery to the US and its territories.
To send parcels or small parcels to the US, Latvijas Pasts customers need to log in or register on the self-service website for private individuals with their Smart-ID or eParaksts account, register the shipment and make the payment, then hand it over to a parcel terminal, customer centre, post office, or courier.
In addition to the parcel delivery fee, customers will be charged a provisional customs duty and customs clearance service fee. However, the US customs authority will determine the actual customs duty, which will depend on the country of origin, content, and value of the shipment.
If the actual customs duty applied by the US exceeds the provisional calculation, the company will send an email and ask the customer to pay the invoice on their mans.pasts.lv profile.
The company noted that Latvijas Pasts customer service centres and post offices only offer letter delivery services to the US
