    1. BBC did this fantastic show called unheard tapes. That was brilliant hearing the men’s own accounts on tape and an actor miming their inflections.

      I found out only two weeks ago that those who took part in the D Day landings directly led to one of my ancestors being saved when Paris was liberated, who would otherwise one day later have been transported to his death.

    3. After the thousand years of the English Channel being a battleground between Britain and France, them holding off the Germans to allow the Dunkirk evacuation, and then us returning a few years later with backup to liberate the continent is genuinely an incredible story, and a massive part of our history.

      I know WWII idolisation isn’t as vogue nowadays, but it was one of those few battles we’ll ever fight that was undoubtedly right vs wrong. And I think is always something worth remembering as what we can do when we not only pull our own shit together, but get our allies to work with us.
