The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) announced today that at a meeting of the Committee of Senior Officials, Montenegro assumed the one-year chairmanship of the Western Balkans Fund.

The Western Balkans Fund, as stated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is a mechanism for strengthening cooperation in the region that brings together six Western Balkan countries.

“Its main objective is to support projects that increase mutual cooperation, European integration and regional connectivity – especially in the areas of culture, education, science and sustainable development,” the statement said.

As they added, during the chairmanship, Montenegro will advocate for further improvement of regional cooperation, increasing the visibility of the Fund, as well as strengthening its institutional capacities and overall development.
