Welcome wandering souls to this new episode of Board Game Pizza, the cyclical thread on board games and RPGs.

Whether you are an experienced player or a novice or someone who knows nothing about this world, you are welcome.

I would like this thread to be used to make small reviews, ask for opinions or advice, even clarifications on an unclear part of the rules or why not, look for companions for a DnD campaign or to play some online board games.

Don’t be afraid to ask, the expert players are here to help and if I can, in my small way I will try to help too.

CHRISTMAS GAMES

Since Christmas is just a few days away, I leave you with a small list of games that you can offer during these holidays.

  • Eats prey calls is a fast-paced card game based on simultaneous choices, bluffing and deduction: at each turn players secretly select an animal trying to predict others’ moves in the food chain. Resolutions are immediate and reward table reading and timing over long-term planning, with a hint of nastiness. A light but tense filler, where simple mechanics create direct interaction and continuous twists.
  • Elk badger what a racket! it’s a party game of speed and pattern recognition: at the beginning of each turn everyone turns over their card and in real time searches for the card on the table that matches best to form sets of animals before the others. The main mechanic is simultaneous action + dexterity, with special cards like Yeti and Avalanche penalizing and adding chaos to the race for sets. Very fast and very fun, suitable even for the youngest players.
  • Flip 7 it’s a pure push-your-luck card game: at each turn you draw numbered cards trying not to reveal the same number twice, deciding when to stop to collect points. The mechanics are immediate but tense, with special cards that modify risk and increase interaction at the table. Extremely fast and accessible, it works perfectly as a high-adrenaline filler, where luck and composure count as much as timing.
  • Rebel Princess is a card and trick game that reinterprets the genre in a modern way: you play trick-taking but the aim is to avoid taking tricks, especially those with princes. Each hand introduces variable special rules that profoundly change priorities and force you to continually adapt your strategy. Light but surprisingly tactical, it focuses on reading opponents and managing risk rather than pure calculation.
  • High Society is a competitive auction-based card game where players use a hand of money cards to bid on positive luxury items or to avoid negative cards, with each bid taking precious money away from your reserve. The mechanical key is to balance the desire to obtain high-value cards with the need not to overspend, because the player with the least money ultimately he can’t wineven if it has many points. Fast and punchy, the auction cap and bid management creates tension and painful choices at every turn.
