Having Kaczyński next to leaders of North Korea, China and Iran is a little bit too much.

  2. I have did not notice i have lived under authoritarian regime which made democratic elections and didn’t lock in jail anyone from opposition for close-to-nothing bs, even if some (Giertych for example) did more than enough to be jailed.

  3. including democratically elected populists and not including a true dictator Lukashenko is wild

Authoritarian, Totalitarian and Dictator are different concepts.

Purely from the title, yes Kaczynski and Trump are both authoritarians, even thought they might not be totalitarians or straight up dictators like others.

It seems a bit of a stretch indeed, but the title has it. Authoritarianism is not necessarily anti-democratic, there is an overlap.

It’s missing macron, he’s always been authoritarian but everything that happened since the olympics of paris is a very good showcase

    – “lost” european election, decided to dismiss the assembly like a baby throwing a tantrum
    – lost parlementary election, the center left won, refused to nominate a prime minister from that coalition for months
    – nominated one of his cronies. The guy gets yeeted at the first occasion
    – nominated another of his cronies (bayrou). Also gets yeeted eventually
    – nominated a 3rd croni (lecornu) the guy resigned
    – renominated lecornu again (current situation, nothing is getting voted)

The only difference with other dictators is that he’s still operating in the state of rights framework, still refusing to listen to the result of the elections
