Governor Laura Kelly recently announced more than $535,000 in grants to 12 Kansas businesses to expand and strengthen registered apprenticeship programs that attract and retain workers.
Textron Aviation and the Workforce Alliance of South-Central Kansas were two local businesses recently awarded, each receiving $93,000 in grant funding.
Administered by the Kansas Department of Commerce, the awards were matched by more than $500,000 in local contributions, bringing total workforce investment to more than $1 million. Funding supports instruction, outreach, on-the-job training, staffing, partnerships and administration, with additional support for five small businesses that required no match.
