Onufrie Berezovski is a controversial figure in Ukraine. The church he leads condemned the invasion and separated by the Russian Patriarchate in 2022. ) The Russian Patriarchate does not recognize this, but at all the post-invasion meetings of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church (in which Metropolitan Vladimir Cantarean participated, obviously), Onufrie Berezovski, although invited, did not go.
Obviously, the Ukrainian state does not recognize this separation, citing the fact that the Russian Church itself did not recognize the separation, but also the fact that many priests (but of lower rank, not bishops or archbishops) collaborated with the Russians. But I believe that the reason for the ban is actually the fact that the Ukrainian Orthodox Church allows services in Slavonic, Russian AND ROMANIAN, while the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (the one supported by the state), even if, formally, it allows services in Romanian as well, discourages them. Here is the opinion of the head of the pro-government Ukrainian Orthodox Church about the Romanian-language churches in Ukraine.
But to return to Berezovski: he was born in the North of Bucovina and speaks Romanian, although he is ethnically Ukrainian. Look here for links with him speaking in Romanian:
