On December 18-19, 2025, the second meeting of the Special Group established by the decision of the Ministers of Environment of the Caspian littoral states to prepare draft documents on the organization of the Secretariat of the Framework Convention on the Protection of the Marine Environment of the Caspian Sea was held in Geneva, APA reports citing Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.
The meeting, organized by the UN Environment Program Regional Office for Europe, which acts as the interim Secretariat of the Convention, was attended by delegations from the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Russian Federation and Turkmenistan.
