To be fair my most recent flight the suitcase cost more than the seat so god knows how much they’d charge for a coffin.

  2. This strikes me as harmless. Gimme a dead old lady rather a crying baby or a stag do as a co-passenger any day.

I once had a flight from Canada next to a dead person. They were cremated remains in a wooden box. I wasn’t complaining as they left the middle seat free for them and put the ashes under the middle seat.

  4. There’s so much I want to know. Was she already dead when going through security? Surely not, right? It doesn’t take long for a body to look and smell very obviously dead.

If someone was unwell enough that they can’t even lift their head, I would think the ground staff would refuse her boarding without a fit to fly note.

Then there’s the family. I get the panic about dealing with the death of a relative abroad. It’s complex and expensive, but that’s what insurance is for, and passing her off as sleeping is the kind of madness you think of for a moment before realizing it’s an utterly ridiculous plan.

Also, who takes a frail 87 year old abroad?!

  5. Malaga security staff and immigration police are not having a good time today. I bet they are on the receiving end of a monumental bollocking for letting a dead body through

  6. WTAF?! 😳 I’ve heard of people trying to smuggle coke but their dead relative? That’s f***ed up!!

I think the family is taking ‘if my grandmother had wheels she would have been a bike’ too literally.

People do this to save money on transport flights for dead people which are for whatever reason insanely expensive

  9. I’m so confused. They clearly liked her enough to include her in the family holiday, but didn’t like her enough to call anyone when she died during their holiday.

  10. Repatriation of a dead body is incredibly expensive if you don’t have insurance. Travel insurance can be bought for less than £10

  11. Obviously not cool, but how are corpses usually transported between countries? Say if someone dies on holiday. Are there special refrigerated corpse planes?

  12. Not sure why people are having a go at the easyjet staff here. They probably just assumed she was asleep
