Moldova has launched a tender for constructing wind farms with a total capacity of 170 megawatts (MW), with mandatory energy storage systems of 44 megawatt-hours (MWh). This is the first tender in Moldova which includes a storage component. Potential investors may request clarifications until 1 February 2026, and offers will be submitted between 16 February and 31 March. An investors’ conference will also be organised on 29 January 2026 to discuss the Tender Documentation and the tender procedure.
The winning bids will be those with the lowest prices below the maximum of 1.44 lei (0.073 euro), and whose total capacity does not exceed 170 MW. The power plants will be built under the fixed price/variable premium support scheme.
The tenders are expected to increase the share of renewable energy by 5.8 per cent, contributing to the national target of 30 per cent renewable energy by 2030. Together with the first 165 MW tender, wind energy will cover approximately 11.4 per cent of this target. New investments are estimated to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by over 1.4 million tons of COâ‚‚, equivalent to the annual emissions of around 310,000 cars.
