  1. That would not be the first time the US intervenes in Venezuela for its own economical interests though, causing a catastrophe.

  2. Yeah most of us think so too, but unfortunately political polarization and electoral rigging are now so severe that the government has realized that they can do anything they want no matter how unpopular and still win elections by fear mongering about trans people and immigrants.

The US would need 200.000+ to even consider an actual ground invasion.

They don’t even have 20.000 after months of this, could it be any more clear that its all posturing and there’s 0 chance of a ground invasion?

    Air strikes, maybe.

  4. Chavez and Maduro have already been catastrophic for Venezuela. A quarter of Venezuela population has fled in the last decade.

  5. Catastrophic for Maduro. Sure. Most Americans probably won’t give a sh*t and won’t even notice unless they pay attention to the news.

  6. Idiocy invading a jungle nation in force.

There’s a reason the Mongols never took Vietnam, Thailand or Cambodia.

All your fancy warships, planes, etc mean fuck all in such conditions.

Learn from Vietnam. Don’t kill thousands of young men for nothing.

There is only one positive I can see, and that is it’s highly unlikely that Venezuela will attempt to invade Guyana, which it had been threatening to do.

  8. Oh look, the outside push needed for South America to get serious about their own NATO and EU equivalents…

  9. Differing opinion from mostly everyone here.

Naval blockade (not ground invasion) = Maduro has 0 money as he can’t ship oil or drugs. Maduro having 0 money forces him to talk to US about stepping down with immunity, which Trump is pushing for.

Change of regime = political win for the US and honestly Venezuela cause their economy is a joke compared to neighboring countries and the resources Venezuela has (they should be a major oil supplier).

No Maduro = Venezuela can finally have an actually economy without the current administrations corruption. And maybe for once can they can be an actual part of the global economy as they have the largest oil untapped oil reserves.

The US won’t invade Venezuela period, however, a blockade could bring enough pressure to change the regime.

  10. Nonsense, look how great our interventions in the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and Latin America have historically gone. ISIS, Cambodia, turning South America into a charnel house; just a litany of rousing successes! And those were back before we had Trump in office and a Secretary of War who openly mandated war crimes as the new ROE.

Lol. First as tragedy, then as farce. It’s going to be hard to top the shit show of Bush’s Forever War but I have no doubt ol’ Donny T will somehow find a way. God, it’s all so stupid.

  11. Clinton bombed an aspirin factory in Sudan to distract from the Lewinsky scandal. How bad is Trump’s scandal he’s gotta pick a fight with what’s becoming every country in South America?

  12. For a place that hates refugees they sure love creating more of them. That’s what invasion will do if not spark more war in the region.

What are we going to do about it, though? Nothing. Yet the U.S. is always the good guy, and China is the big bad villain.
