Alis will represent Albania at Eurovision 2026, which will take place in Vienna on May 12, 14 and 16, and all signs suggest that the country will once again focus on authenticity. The young artist has confirmed that the song with which he won Festivali i Këngës, titled “Nân” (meaning “Mother”), will be presented at the contest without changes to its character.
Speaking after his victory in the national final, Alis made it clear that he intends to keep the song in the Albanian language, remaining faithful to his original vision. This choice comes as no surprise, as Albania has traditionally achieved better results at Eurovision when represented by songs in its native language.
“Nân” marks the first Eurovision entry for both Alis and lyricist Desara Gjini, with the performer himself also signing the music. In its current form, the song exceeds the permitted time limit, meaning that technical adjustments will be made to its duration in order to comply with the three-minute maximum rule required for Eurovision entries.
A song about motherhood and migration
Lyrically, “Nân” is a deeply emotional ballad that touches on a timeless and particularly familiar theme in the Balkans: migration and the loneliness it leaves behind. The narrator is a mother who watches her children leave in search of a better life, while she remains behind, trapped in memories of the past.
With this choice, Albania clearly signals that at Eurovision 2026 it will place emphasis on emotion, cultural identity and sincerity, hoping to replicate the success of “Zjerm”, which brought the country its highest televoting score ever in the contest and a respectable eighth-place finish.
