Stewart led Spain Park with his 17 first-half points, and McQueeney and Carroll joined him in double figures with 11 and 10 points each, respectively. Quinn Davis had eight points, Phillips finished with seven points and Price and Henderson each scored six points. Fixler earned four points in the win.

The next day against Smiths Station, the Jags got off to a strong start on defense and gave up just seven points to the Panthers.

With Stewart and Fox back in the lineup, they made an immediate impact with shots from behind the arc, including two 3-pointers from Stewart in the first.

That led to a 14-7 advantage for Spain Park going into the second.

Smiths Station chipped away at the lead in the remaining minutes of the half, concentrating its offense to its best scorer to make the most impact.

The Jags kept the lead thanks to free throws from Wilkerson and Quinn Davis, and they led 24-19 at the halftime break.

The Panthers stuck to the same strategy in the third quarter, but this time around, Spain Park had a much greater response on offense.

Morrison drained two early triples and kept rolling in the third to eventually score 11 points in the quarter. Fox also had a strong third with nine points, and the pair combined for all 20 of the Jags’ third quarter points.

Spain Park grew its lead to 44-33 and kept pulling away down the stretch.

The Jags didn’t allow any baskets from the field in the fourth and got 3-pointers from Fox and Stewart to finish out the 15-point win.

Fox led the way with 15 points while Morrison added 14 points, Stewart scored 12 points, Quinn Davis had five points and Wilkerson and Cooper Gann each finished with four points.

Spain Park improved to 13-4 with the wins and will travel to Norcross, Georgia for the Peachtree Corners Invitational on Dec. 29 and 30. The Jags will face the Newton Rams on Monday, Dec. 29 at 2:30 p.m. eastern and the host Norcross Blue Devils on Tuesday, Dec. 30 at 7 p.m.

The Lady Jags went 1-1 in their Birmingham Bash games with a 37-33 loss to Pinson Valley and a 43-20 win over McAdory. They will return to action from Dec. 27-30 for the Jag Classic, where they will face Jackson-Olin, John Carroll Catholic and Sylacauga in showcase action at Jag Arena.
