    From where tf is this data even coming from census has not been conducted since 2011

  2. This map also closely follows the percent of muslims in each state but som southern states like Tamil Nadu are an exception to that
    Edit:W.B would also be an exception

    The worst part about this is that film industries in south india normalise cousin marriage in movies too.

    seems a bit strange to lump together second-cousins and uncles. at least from a western perspective one seems a lot less…problematic than the other

    It has to do with wealth transfer and status networks, blood related marriages were the norm before influence of christianity individualized people more. I’m repeating Joseph Henrich’s idea.
