An authoritarian high-tech complex is emerging before our eyes – first in the USA and increasingly in Europe.
- Tech billionaires like Peter Thiel and Elon Musk support Donald Trump politically and in return receive government contracts worth billions.
- Companies like Palantir, On the sensor or Musk’s space and satellite projects take over central tasks from the military, secret services and surveillance – state power shifts to private corporations.
- Democratic control is weakened and “security policy” is privatized. The USA is a pioneer of this model.
- According to economist Francesca Bria This creates an “authoritative high-tech complex” in which political loyalty and public orders are closely linked.
- This system is spreading: in Europe Sebastian Kurz a central actor. After his chancellorship he moved to Thiel Capital and founded the cybersecurity company Dream Security.
- Dream Security is controversial with ex-executives NSO Group (Pegasus spying software), is valued at over 1 billion and, according to its own statements, works exclusively for states and critical infrastructure.
- Venture capital from the USA, Israel and the Gulf states is driving this development – with a possible IPO and further increase in power for the actors involved.

es ist alles wovor uns die Aluhüte gewarnt haben, oder? Also, nur dass es die Leute machen, die die lieben Aluhüte selber gepusht haben, aber wer da wen gepusht hat…
Wenn es nicht zum kotzen wäre könnte man es ja echt ironisch finden, aber so hat es das G’schmäckle von “der Goebbels hat das ernst gemeint mit dem Ding anderen vorzuwerfen was man selber macht” – aber, dass man das im November 1938 feststellt.
Und in Deutschland wird Palantir mittlerweile in mehreren Bundesländern flächendeckend eingesetzt. Tolle liberale Demokratie. Der CEO von Palantir wünscht sich einfach die schlimmsten Aspekte vom chinesischen (weitgehend nicht existenten) “social credit score” weltweit, in einer Welt regiert durch Tech-Monarchen. Und dem schmeißen europäische Staaten Geld in den Rachen.
Natürlich erwähnt Kontrast nicht, dass dort mit Laura Rudas eine ehemalige SPÖlerin Vizepräsidentin von Palantir ist.
Wie können wir sie stoppen? Es wirkt alles so übermächtig. Ich hoffe, die EU bleibt stabil und handlungsfähig – Nationalstaaten haben da ja gar keine Chance mehr.
