Latvian President Edgars Rinkēvičs and Prime Minister Evika Siliņa both published their Christmas messages on December 24th.

In his message, President Rinkēvičs adopted a pithy and poetic approach, saying:

May the darkness invite you to see the light.
May the warmth of the heart conquer the cold.
May the whirlwind of events help you let go of the unnecessary.
May the daily rush be transformed into peace.

Merry Christmas!

Prime Minister Siliņa also adopted a rather poetic mode of address, posting on social media:

We meet friends we haven’t seen in a long time.
We give joy to someone who currently needs support, or anyone like that.
We greet our neighbours.
We say thank you for the loved ones and family that are in our lives.
We appreciate the opportunity to be, live, and call Latvia our home.
And above all – we believe that God can turn all things to the good.

Merry Christmas!

We here at LSM can only add our own decidedly prosaic but nonetheless heartfelt best wishes to all readers: Priecīgus Ziemassvētkus!
