I have a Green Power Flex (Variable) contract with Elegant. To what extent is my energy price affected by North Pool prices, and how does that impact what I pay as a customer? For example: is it really cheaper for me when the Nord Pool price is €0.04/kWh compared to €0.09/kWh?

Only when you have a dynamic contract
Variable is not this, it’s a set price that updates in a set interval.
Changing day prices are dynamic contracts
check your contract, there’s a formula there to determine your kwh price
iirc in belgium there are no “hour rate” contracts allowed for consumers, only for industries. so usually you pay a kwh rate that’s average over a month or quarter.
(i think hour rate contracts are used for injection proces, but for consumption they only exist in industry)
Dynamic – per 15 or 60 minutes
Variable – per month
Vast – per contract duration
Variable contracts are renewed every trimester (at least in my case)
You don’t need to worry every second about prices lol
