A new cultural organization has started operating in Ireland – the Ukrainian Cultural Centre (Ukrainian Cultural Centre in Ireland). The main aim of the institution is to promote Ukrainian contemporary art and language, and to strengthen cultural ties between the peoples of the two countries.

The founders spoke about this in an interview. The Centre aims to become a platform for a deeper understanding of Ukraine for an Irish audience.

The Centre’s activities include educational initiatives, exhibitions of contemporary artists, theatrical projects, and presentations of current Ukrainian content.

Co-founder and director became Natalia Korniyenko – a Ukrainian journalist, cultural manager, and coordinator of the “Words and Bullets” project. Natalia has been living in Ireland for four years and is actively involved in cultural diplomacy.

According to the head of the Centre, despite the significant distance between the countries – about 3,000 km – Ukrainians and Irish have a lot in common:

“We have much more in common than may seem at first glance: similar chapters in history, a rich and diverse culture, and a passionate pursuit of freedom. The centre aims to give the Irish audience the opportunity to see and feel Ukraine as it is today”
