I assume the creator might have been a bit generous in certain cases, but overall, still… damn

  1. Would love to know the sources for some of these… those some of them (like bureaucracy as a science) speak for themselves.

  2. More than a little generous…

Railways were famously invented in England.
The printing press was famously invented by Gutenberg in Germany.
WWW was famously invented at CERN in Switzerland.
Steamboat depending on your definition was invented either in France or West Virginia.
First IVF baby was in England.

It’s ridiculous to claim entire domains of research like “modern anatomy” or “plastic surgery”. Do I even need to explain why?

  4. Also some of these aren’t really to be proud for.

Plastic surgery, bureaucracy as a science, really?

  5. Also, claiming random things and entire areas of research as their own. And not understanding what an invention is or means.

  6. You’re missing some pretty big ones. The steam powered car, electric doorbell, golf, pralines and quite possibly the Dutch language

  7. I think it’s quite a stretch to call several of those items Belgian, if they’re invented even before Belgian independence in 1830… You can’t really call Mercator and Vesalius Belgians…

Also, isn’t wage indexing a Belgian invention?
