Former Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak has been found guilty of at least one count of abuse of power in connection to the multi-billion-dollar 1MDB scandal. The High Court ruling is ongoing.
Judge Collin Lawrence Sequerah’s ruling came after a lengthy summation and he has yet to rule on a further two dozen charges.
The judge said prosecution witnesses were credible, also rejecting Najib’s “Arab donation” defense regarding millions of dollars placed in his bank account, purporteAdly by the Saudi royal family.
The “cold hard facts” show Jho Low’s presence and involvement in critical phases of 1MDB transactions and an “obvious proximity and relationship” with Najib, the judge said.
