According to the National Statistics Institute (INE): “Considering values for the three quarters of 2025, the PA balance was positive, representing 2.1% of GDP (2.3% in the same period of 2024),” indicates the INE.
Total revenue grew 7% year-on-year, while total expenditure increased 7.7%, in the accumulated period from January to September.
In terms of revenue, “the increases in tax revenue, social security contributions, and other current expenditure stand out,” according to the statistics office, and on the expenditure side, “the increase in employee compensation (8.2%), social benefits (7.7%), and intermediate consumption (7.6%) is noteworthy.”
Looking only at the third quarter, from July to September, the surplus was “€2,952 million, corresponding to 3.8% of GDP, compared to 4.9% in the same period last year.”
In the quarter, compared to the same period of the previous year, there was an increase of 7.7% in total revenue and 10.8% in total expenditure.
