Rant about textbooks

A friend called me to help her son with high school math. I remembered that there are textbooks available online and went to browse them. I say now they will have improved since the old days when we were a school. I open the book and scroll. An absolute mess. No coherence, everything compressed, 8 different fonts on the same page, unrelated colors, various squiggles here and there without any logic, various unrelated supposedly fun facts squeezed into the text. Graphic designers must cry. Teachers should be pulling their hair out. I didn’t have ADHD and I did. I’m an ass and I couldn’t read it. How do we expect 12 year olds to learn anything from this bullshit? And especially maths which in the end everyone hates, I wonder why… I didn’t dare to open the other subjects. Savvalas naturally rubs his little hands. Random? I don’t think so. Conclusions as always yours.
