For the time ever Malta’s National Christmas Tree in Valletta is being surrounded by the most magnificent Christmas scent created by the country’s only “nose” – top perfumer Stephen Cordina, a member of Société Française des Parfumers who has recently launched his Eau de Parfum called Arabian Nights which proved to be a success.

Says Stephen “The six-week run up to Christmas is always a crazy time for us. Trying to balance the demands of corporate customers alongside our regular clients – and then, of course, the madness of Black Friday week.

So the challenge of producing an appropriate fragrance to enhance this year’s national Christmas tree added an extra dimension to  an already busy schedule.  But this was too exciting to miss and I am delighted to have been part of this hugely successful and unique project, working with the designer of the tree Henry Galea and Company.

Our Christmas Tree scent is a delightful blend of Pine, Cinnamon, Cloves and Oakmoss and this is disseminated from inside the base of the tree by a bank of our electronic diffusers”.

Cordina has also produced a range of his products containing this special Christmas scent which is proving very popular and available at his “pop up shop” next to the tree and in his stores.

Stephen has been producing scents and perfumes in Malta for over 20 years and is gradually breaking into the international market by attending conferences, markets and major fragrance events around Europe and further afield.

“It’s difficult to break into these highly competitive markets abroad but I keep trying and every year we get more interest in our products and in the island of Malta. It is great that Malta is getting so well known abroad not only for its history and architectural beauty, but for the huge range of artisanal talent we have throughout the island”.
