Polling stations opened at 8:00 a.m. and closed at 8:00 p.m. Bulgarian time

Kosovo’s snap parliamentary elections have concluded. Polling stations opened at 7:00 a.m. and closed at 7:00 p.m. local time, BGNES reported.

The Central Election Commission (CEC) said turnout had reached 36.86% as of 5:00 p.m., with 94.72% of polling stations processed. By that time, 736,992 voters had cast ballots. The coalition of non-governmental organizations Democracy in Action said that, based on data from its field observers, turnout as of 5:00 p.m. stood at 38.9%.

In the final two hours of voting, representatives of various political parties urged citizens to use the remaining time to exercise their right to vote. According to institutions, no major incidents were recorded during the day, and as of the afternoon there were no detentions for criminal offenses related to the electoral process.

The CEC also reported brief power outages at several polling stations, but electricity distributor KEDS intervened and resolved the issue.

Earlier in the day, the commission reported higher turnout compared with the February 9 vote.

The CEC is expected to release the first results once precinct commissions complete their work, which should happen in the next few hours. | BGNES
