The unions representing workers at SPdH/Menzies, formerly Groundforce, have called off the strike scheduled for December 31 and January 1, following the signing of agreements with the company’s shareholders, validated by the Government.
In a joint statement, Sitava – the Aviation and Airport Workers’ Union and the Handling, Aviation and Airport Workers’ Union (STHAA) announced that agreements were signed with Menzies and TAP, validated by the Government, which guarantee stability and a future for workers, thus allowing the strike to be called off.
“After intense negotiations with SPdH and its shareholders (Menzies and TAP, in this case duly validated by the Government), we can announce that we have signed two agreements,” they said.
The strike had been called due to uncertainty regarding the future of workers within the context of the tender for the allocation of handling licenses, whose preliminary report from ANAC places the Clece/South consortium in first place.
In the context of this tender, the Government had extended the current handling licenses until at least May 19, 2026.
SPdH employs more than 3,700 workers, of whom approximately 2,070 are directly covered by the ongoing tender.
