What is the point of the TV campaign warning people about this, then not actually carrying out the punishment

At the very least, publish his photo on every bit of coverage of the case. You get what you give.

    >Judge Aylmer said it is the case that since his adolescent years, the accused has displayed some sexually deviant tendencies and has been **very real concern to his potential for offending**, but said this was his first time before the courts.

Suspending the sentence while acknowledging the potential for re-offending doesn’t make sense.

It’s his first time before the courts- it won’t be his last.

  4. The autism defense, Of course it would be a suspended sentence. Here, we can’t actually punish criminal behavior. Poor girl. No justice. How long before people stop reporting these cases to the police and take things into their own hands?

    Not just threatened.

    >The court was told that on July 5th, 2021, the man put up the pictures online and they remained online for 24 hours, according to gardaí.

    >The man was also alleged to have posted the pictures online again on July 21st, 2021.
Gardaí initially said that all of the young woman’s friends and the man’s friends could see the pictures, but he later suggested, when cross-examined, that it may have been private to both the accused and his victim.

    >the accused said it was only he and the girl who could see the images.

    >Judge John Aylmer said if there was any level of doubt as to the level of publication, then the accused had to receive the benefit of doubt.

  6. The article mentions that the man has tourettes, aytism, and it’s his first offence of any sort, so that’s why he received a suspended sentence

That is the most fucking sickening thing I’ve read in a long time. Excuse after excuse for actual scum that doesn’t deserve to be. A man who showed significant ‘sexual deviance’ and had a ‘potential to reoffend’? Jesus wept. Some poor woman is going to eventually take a case against the state for the softly softly approach on these kind of offenders. They seem more like the party of ‘sure-gawdy-luv-us’ than the one of law and order they used to harp on about.

I wouldn’t be shocked if vigilantism makes a come back, and if this would be one of the targets, there’d be no tears wasted by me.

  8. Prick should be locked up. The soft stance the irish state has on sex crimes is sickening. It’s obvious this melt is going to re offend but we can only lock up the pour soul after 4 or 5 hundred convictions.

What’s the point of running that whole massive ad campaign claiming to crack down on this only to set this as an example to offenders

There was a video of a SA going around that took place 2ish weeks ago in Cork. A video of the crime.

IMO that should also have real legal consequences. Sharing the video.

I don’t get this first time offence thing. It’s not forgetting homework, it’s ruining people’s lives.

  12. I’m sorry Do they like dirty peados and sexual deviants in this backwards broken country?!? I know the Catholic Church rule only ended a while ago so they have transferred that leniency to the judges and courts, jfc we can’t do shit in this country.

  13. Why are people surprised? This country let Larry Murphy, a 99 percent serial killer, walk free after such a short sentence for an already abhorrent crime.

    i don’t know what’s honestly more embarrassing

    our Justice system

the fact we the people continue to allow this to happen over and over again we are putting virtually 0 pressure on the Government to fix the legal system

and this is the shit that happens as a result
