wouldn’t china just ship..wait transport cars by trucks to Russia, don’t they have an over supply of finished cars with millions waiting in parking to be bought?

Not for the lack of trying though, from what I understand. I read they have actually tried to buy back their assets (sold in a rush for pennies) through the court, believe it or not, but this being Russia and all the court basically told them to FO. So I guess they’re “cutting ties” now, LOL.
