Over many years, Grannies à Gogo has presented close to 60 Travelogues of many different destinations.
The annual events take place over three Fridays in January and are a fundraiser for the Grannies’ overseas missions.
All three of the 2026 Travelogues Series are held at the Schubert Centre from 2 to 3 p.m. The proceeds from the travelogues will help to ease the lives of vulnerable grandmothers in Sabie, South Africa, who are caring for HIV/AIDS orphaned grandchildren.
Lloyd Davies starts the series Jan. 9, taking attendees to Morocco, a land of many tastes and colours.
“Riding camels through the sand dunes and spending a night in a tent under the darkest of skies were a few of the many highlights,” Davies said.
He will share photos of his and Janet’s part package guided tour and part seat of the pants self-guided tour that allowed these intrepid travellers to experience Morocco a bit differently than most.
In the Jan. 16 Travelogue, Ted and Marnie Melnyk will tickle your senses as they take you to both Belgium and Portugal.
From canals and sobering visits to war memorial sites in Belgium to cliff coastlines, cobblestone streets and many stairs in Portugal; from Belgian chocolates and waffles to Portuguese seafood of all kinds, we are promised a delightful second travelogue in our series of three Friday afternoon travelogues,” said Granny Anne Clark.
The third travelogue on Jan. 23 will take you to the exotic island of Madagascar.
The host on this adventure is Evelyn LeRose, an intrepid traveller.
She will share the biodiversity hotspot and one of the world’s 17 megadiverse countries, with over 90 per cent of its wildlife being endemic.
“Be prepared to be wowed,” said Clark, adding funds raised help to provide food packages, medical help and lunch time socialising at the Ubuntu Centre in the township of Similie.
