Meta AI - Wikipedia
Earlier in 2025, Manus launched an AI agent, claiming that its performance surpasses that of DeepResearch, OpenAI’s AI agent.

On ‍Monday of this week, global tech leader, Meta announced it would acquire artificial intelligence startup Manus; Manus is a Chinese startup making waves due to the performance ability of their AI agents.

Global technology leaders like Meta hamanusve been focused on ramping up their AI investments through very strategic acquisitions and key talent hires. This is fuelled by the fierce industry competition that’s driving extreme innovations within the AI ecosystem.

In fact, earlier in the year, Meta invested in Scale AI in a deal valuing the data-labeling startup at $29 billion and bringing in its 28-year-old CEO, Alexandr Wang.

The financial terms of this acquisition remain undisclosed.

Manus, based in Singapore, builds general-purpose AI agents, these agents can operate as digital employees, as well as execute research and automation based tasks with minimal prompts.

After the acquisition, Meta will be the sole operator and will be responsible for the Manus service offering, they will also integrate it into their larger consumer and business product offering, ‍the company said.

Manus, which is a part of the bigger Beijing Butterfly Effect Technology Ltd Co, has marketed its product by completing dozens of tasks for users on X for free.

Manus is one among many Chinese firms that have a domicile in Singapore, a planned move that would potentially reduce risks to their operations getting disrupted by other Sino-U.S. geopolitical tensions.
