There’s been a major drop-off since COVID hit in March 2020. Lots of experienced gangland shooters were locked up or killed over the previous decade. It seems the younger crowd still in the street are less capable and/or willing. It just seems very hard to get away with shooting someone in Ireland these days. So fair play to the guards in that regard.
finalized homicide rates for the full year aren’t out, but data to Q3 2025 shows Ireland’s homicide incidents dropped significantly (down 25%), with rates historically low, around 0.4-0.8 per 100,000.
